Tournament Training Camp

The Tournament Training Camp (TTC) offers an intensive and highly-focused week of drills, stroke analysis, mental skill development, and conditioning in a highly competitive yet fun atmosphere. The TTC draws top juniors from all over New England and includes more New England-ranked players than any other camp or program. Playing your best in competitive situations requires being in top physical condition and the TTC provides intensive physical training by Tim Crowley, top-ranked New England triathlete and Director of Fitness for The Longfellow Club. A unique aspect of the TTC is the on-site coaching program offered at the season-ending New England Open Championships. Coaches travel, chaperon, prepare, chart matches, and evaluate performance in this exciting and competitive atmosphere. This tradition is a terrific learning opportunity for each TTC camper and a lot of fun.

The Longfellow IMPACT Tennis System

The Longfellow IMPACT Tennis System (ITS) is the result of years of research and practical application by Laury and Longfellow tennis professionals. This proven system is integrated into the daily curriculum of the camp and provides a clear and motivating focus for each session. The ITS ensures that juniors have every opportunity to reach their potential by participating in a comprehensive and balanced program. Every camp day includes sessions focused on all of the basic components of the IMPACT Tennis System: Instruction & Stroke Production, Mobility and Footwork, Physical Training, Affirming Confidence, Competition & Match Analysis, and Tactics & Strategy.

The Hammel Tradition

In 1972, Laury Hammel had a dream - to create a tennis center in New England where young people could learn to play tennis, experience success, develop self-confidence and have fun in the process. A place where juniors could learn a variety of mental and physical techniques that would support them in reaching their full potential on and off the court. For twenty-eight years, this dream has guided Laury Hammel and his staff. This tennis center has evolved over time to become The Longfellow Clubs, a group of health and tennis clubs in Wayland and Natick, Massachusetts. Thousands of young people have learned to play and enjoy tennis, included hundreds who have earned national and sectional rankings. The Longfellow Clubs have grown to become a community institution and a hotbed for tennis activities of all types. For the past 18 years, The Longfellow Clubs have hosted the USTA Boys 16 Indoor National Championships as well as several other USTA tournaments. In addition, The Longfellow Clubs have won the USTA/New England Organization of the Year Award in 1989 and the USTA/New England Tournament of the Year Award in 1992.
