HealthMasters
HealthMasters is designed to promote physical activity, physical fitness and to provide health and wellness to adults 60 and older. All exercise classes use exercise prescriptions, designed specifically for older adults.

Individual workouts can be established for people who may suffer from any of the following:

  • arthritis
  • osteoporosis
  • hip or knee replacement
  • diabetes
  • coronary artery disease
  • or any other possible limitations

HealthMasters is a great way for older adults to spend time together and combine exercise with a social element. Participants have made progress with their physical conditioning, vitality, and psychological well being.

Age is relative.
There is chronological age and physiological age and they are not synonymous. Exercise performance at any age can vary. Regular physical activity can help the body maintain, repair, and improve itself, at any age. Physical activity has many benefits, such as improving endurance, gaining strength, joint flexibility, and improving one's general well being. As we age, it's even more important to stay active. Physical activity will help in the prevention of coronary artery disease and all the risk factors associated with it. Exercise may help low back pain, arthritic pain, improve resting blood pressure, and resting metabolism. Exercise also helps to improve bone mineral density, glucose metabolism, and blood lipid level. Exercise raises pain thresholds and improves energy levels. Because it increases muscle strength and balance, exercise reduces the risk of falling and fractures from falling. As life expectancy continues to increase, it is desirable to live without chronic illness, frailty and dependence on others to care for us.

Strength Training Study

This program is an eight week FREE study researching how gender, frequency of exercise and body composition will affect strength gains in older adults. This is not a clinically significant study, but it has proven that people in our community have seen benefits from strength training. During the study, participants will slowly increase the amount of resistance on the machines and slowly increase the number of repetitions they perform. Classes include a warm up, supervised instruction on all Keiser machines, group stretches lead by an instructor, and an ample cool-down period.
