The Longfellow Center's purpose is to provide quality health care by offering a multidisciplinary approach integrating the mind, body, spirit and environment. Our team of professionals is committed to developing relationships that support people in achieving vibrant health through traditional and modern healing technologies. We work with our clients to create a health maintenance program which enables them to achieve their full human potential, live a balanced lifestyle, and experience overall well-being and vitality.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a form of treatment which brings the body's energy into balance through the use of fine, single-use, disposable needles, painlessly placed at points on channels of energy flow. Our licensed acupuncturist may complement the treatment with the use of Chinese herbs. Acupuncture can be very effective in the treatment of asthma, chronic fatigue, digestive and gynecological problems, headaches, insomnia complications of pregnancy including morning sickness, and control of chronic and acute pain among many other conditions

Chiropractic

Since 1981, Dr. Hazirjian has helped thousands get relief from chronic headaches, pains of the neck, arm, shoulder, leg, and of course, back problems. From auto accidents to sports injuries and work-related cases, the painless Activator Method of chiropractic care can be your first choice for conservative detection and correction of either nerve or musculoskeletal problems. The Activator Method utilizes a small, hand held instrument to adjust misalignment of the spine and other joints of the body. The Activator painlessly delivers a quick tight thrust to the problem areas. Chiropractic health care benefits are available through most major private insurance companies, Blue Shield, Medicare, Worker's Compensation, and Automobile and Personal Injury insurance policies.

Massage Therapy

The benefits of therapeutic and sports massage includes improved circulation and general body tone, enhanced function of joints and muscles, and relief of mental and physical fatigue. Our certified and licensed massage therapists are trained in neuromuscular therapy and general massage therapeutic techniques. Whether you are seeking a relaxation massage, treatment for a specific sports related injury, or any other soft tissue impairment, appointments are available Monday through Saturday in either 30, 45 or 60 minute sessions

Nutrition

Most of today's major disease processes (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cancer, diabetes, etc.) prey silently. The practice of modern medicine is swinging to prevention with a large component focusing on the diet. Our staff nutritionist, a registered dietitian, can help tailor an eating strategy that not only meets your individual needs, but also fits into your busy lifestyle. Nutritional counseling, offered in 30, 45, or 60 minute individual sessions can help you lose weight, lower your cholesterol, decrease your blood pressure, improve your athletic performance, and allow you to feel more energetic.

Physical Therapy / Water Therapy
Our physical therapists utilize traditional and modern technologies acting as facilitators to assist you in regaining function to your fullest potential with ongoing education to achieve your goals. We provide quality health care planning, treatment / prevention techniques and independent or supervised health maintenance programs which promote active, injury-free lives. A holistic, comprehensive approach is consistent with treatment. Techniques include manual therapy, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy neuro muscular re-education, ultrasound, specific conditioning for job or sport-related injuries, Nautilus, free weight training, aerobic conditioning and water therapy. Water therapy involves therapeutic exercises in a deep and/or shallow water pool for rehabilitation or conditioning. The buoyancy effect of water provides a safe, pain-free environment, while water resistance provides a challenge for strength training and aerobic conditioning. Insurance reimbursement is available through most private insurance companies, Blue Shield, Medicare, Worker's Compensation, and Automobile and Personal Injury insurance policies. Check individual policies or call your representative for details.

Polarity Therapy
Polarity Therapy is a natural health care system. It asserts that energy fields and currents exist everywhere in nature, and that the flow and balance of this energy in the human body is the underlying foundation of health. In a typical Polarity session, the practitioner and client work together in a healing relationship to address physical, mental and emotional energy blockages. The practitioner may use bodywork and guidance in diet, exercise, attitude and lifestyle to support the client's healing process. In Polarity bodywork, a variety of contacts and manipulations are used to stimulate and balance the body's electromagnetic fields. The practitioner may help to process feelings and develop strategies for resolving issues causing tension. The result is a safe and supportive experience encouraging understanding and respect for the client's healing process. For additional polarity information email Judith Poole, Reiki Master Therapist.
